Border Waiting Times Europe

The reintroduction of border controls by European governments to manage migration has created significant disruptions for road freight corridors. This page provides almost real-time transparency through a live map (delayed by 4 hours) showing current border waiting times based on Transporeon's real-time visibility data.

In mid-October 2023, Germany implemented controls at its borders with Poland and the Czech Republic, substantially impacting road freight transportation. Border crossing delays became particularly pronounced for vehicles entering from Eastern Europe, as shown in the chart below. While controls later expanded to other borders, these initial checkpoints continue to show the most significant impact.

Unlike the European map above which updates automatically, this analysis of German borders will be manually updated on a weekly basis.

Update July 11th:
After announcements of stricter border controls both Index stopped their increasing trend and reduced slightly. However, delays are still significantly above usual 2025 levels, indicating persistent losses in efficiency for carriers.
